Agent

Sketch: a car drives a road from Start to a Goal flag; then a loop of decide, act and look that repeats until it reaches the goal.

An agent is an AI model inside a harness that works toward a goal in steps, choosing actions, using tools and checking results.

Think of it like this: An agent is the engine plus the car, driving toward the goal you set. Stage 1, you drive (human in the loop); stage 2, the car drives while you supervise (human on the loop). Stage 3, the car does errands without you in it (no human in the loop), only when you choose.
